The Photoshop cut out person and transposing into another photo is common and surprisingly easy. Being a multifaceted platform, there are numerous ways to complete the same task. The magic wand tool is a popular tool for cutting and pasting people, simple and effect for the task at hand. The lasso tool is also a common choice and it offers an accurate border around the person in your photo.

The selection tools in Photoshop match the bordering pixels around the person to select the outline. The process is fairly accurate as the contrast between the person in the photo and background is typically distinct.

Selecting a single person in a crowd of other people, however, can prove difficult, as the outline is blended by similar pixels. Before jumping into the process, consider postponing edits on both photos until the transfer is complete.

Completing a simple auto adjust to smooth out the colors and the white balance is standard, but doing this before the transfer will adjust for the current photo but not for the transposed photo. This will make the transposed person stand out more and she will look unnatural, as the colors are not adjusted to the same settings. Save your white balance, color saturation levels and other standard edits for later. They are best done as a final round of edits to complete the process and blend the new person into the color balance of the existing photos.

Choose the magic wand from your toolbar and hover over the person to select the outline area. The wand will outline the person with a dotted line.

Click to select the individual. This does not always snap a perfect line around the person in the photo however. Continue using the wand to select additional areas, until you have a nice edge defining the person in your photo. The shift key is a nice shortcut to expand the selected area when using the magic wand tool.

After the area is selected, copy and paste to a transparent layer in a new tab. Alternatively, you can copy and paste directly to the new photograph. The cut and paste Photoshop shortcuts apply to many other programs as well.

Many Photoshop users prefer the Lasso Tool for its accuracy when cutting people. The lines around a person are curved and the Lasso does and excellent job of reading the pixels and building an accurate outline. Select the Lasso from your toolbar and use the same process as the magic wand to tool. Hover over the person until the lasso catches the outline with dotted lines. Click to select the person. After the selection is complete, use the same copy and paste sequence to add your person to the new photo.

After the person is pasted into your new photo, you can select the person and move them around until the position looks acceptable. Once positioned, run an auto adjust on the colors to blend everything into the same color sequence. Photoshop also offers custom controls to adjust the saturation, white balance and photo colors, if desired. Finding a natural position for a transposition is not easy in any editing program.

Take your time to find a place where the person will appear normal and will scale well with the background. Open areas, such as a beach backed by an ocean or a mountain peak, work well because the backdrop is easy to scale.
